The 29-year-old netted in the 86th minute at the Reebok Stadium with a stabbed effort to secure a 1-0 victory for the Reds.
Afterwards, Lucas claimed the finish was not too dissimilar to the type of goal Brazilian hit man Romario was famed for during his heyday.

"Maxi scored the type of goal Romario used to score," he told reporters in the tunnel following the game. "I told him afterwards it was very similar. It was a nice goal and an important goal.
"Maxi is an intelligent player. He is not the biggest, so he has to play in the space. He has a lot of technique and this type of player will always help you and the team."
In winning at the Reebok, Liverpool recorded back-to-back league victories for the first time since April following the recent 2-1 defeat of Blackburn Rovers at Anfield.
The result elevated the Reds up to 12th in the Barclays Premier League table, just three points off fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Lucas acknowledges it was a tough test against Owen Coyle's side, but feels an improved understanding between the players has proved key in helping Liverpool get back on track.
He said: "I think everyone can see we are improving all the time. It was a difficult game. They have two big strikers and with the long balls, it made it difficult for us.
"But we tried to keep the ball on the ground, play our football and in the end we were able to score a goal.
"These two victories will give us a lot of confidence to keep going.
"I think as a team everyone is playing really well and everyone can see the understanding between the players is better. Hopefully we will keep the same attitude and keep getting the victories."
After a mixed start to 2010-11, Lucas accepts Liverpool's two recent victories were much needed - but now he's optimistic Roy Hodgson's contingent can embark on an extended unbeaten streak.
He continued: "We were under pressure (beforehand) and we still have to improve a lot in the league, but we are heading in the right way and playing better in every game. Hopefully in the next few games we will get more points and improve our position in the table.
"We have never panicked. We had to improve, but the only way to do so is by playing well and winning."
