Bayern Munich Defender Philipp Lahm Labels 4-0 Win Over CFR Cluj 'A Great Result'

Romanian side CFR Cluj caused German champions Bayern Munich all kinds of trouble when the two sides locked horns a fortnight ago, but the Bavarians proved to be way too strong for Cluj in the return on Wednesday evening and cruised to a 4-0 away win.

Striker Mario Gomez netted a hat-trick to show Bayern the way before Thomas Mueller added a fourth goal well into stoppage time, much to the satisfaction of skipper Philipp Lahm.

"Winning 4-0 away from home in the Champions League is a great result. We were focused from the start, we took our first chance, and it was relatively easy once we'd gone a goal up," said Lahm on the Bayern Munich website.

"Overall, it was a very, very good team performance. It was obvious we’d showed up right from the start, which is vital away from home against opponents like these, because you’re telling them they won’t take anything from the game. That was particularly true in the first half."

Wednesday's results mean that Bayern have qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament with 12 points from four games, while Cluj sit third in the table with three points.
